Kayaks
In reality it takes a long time to build a beautiful boat. But it takes a very long long time to build a drop dead gorgeous piece of art.
We build custom kayaks for anyone who doesn't have the time to build one for themselves. We will build any design or we can offer suggestions for your body size, paddling style, and excursion type.
We will work with you to develop the graphic design and work in any details that will insure it is a one of a kind craft.
Here is a Spring Run as an example, but any design is welcome
She is 16'9.25" long
24" wide
43 pounds
$5,000-$8,000
This boat is unbelievably beautiful. I’ve been told that it looks like a hard wood floor rolled up. The truth is that no floor can compare and no piece of furniture even comes close to the aesthetics achieved by this boat. This piece of artwork is the only sporting goods equipment you can bring in the house. It will look just as astounding on the wall or over the mantle as on the water. This boat seems to draw a crowd wherever it goes. Most people have never seen something so incredible. So if you are looking to be noticed, are in search of high performance, or just want to have the most stunning piece on the water, this boat is for you.
The hull design is a Red Fish, Spring Run and it strikes a great balance between speed and stability. A novice paddler will feel very comfortable while the expert will enjoy the efficient flow through the water and the responsive leaned turns. Everyone can appreciate how this kayak slices through the water. After you stop paddling you seem to glide forever. Photography and fishing are effortless with the stability that this boat affords. The deck rigging has been kept at a minimum to give a clean look and keep spray to a minimum when cutting through rough surf.
Weighing in at a featherweight 43lbs, it is about 30 pounds less than a plastic boat and is stronger than fiberglass. Part of the weight savings comes from the types of wood used. Western Red Cedar makes up the lion’s share of the vessel with it’s tan, red, and dark brown colors. Alaskan Yellow Cedar makes up the striking highlights. Black Walnut trims out the coaming, stems, grab loop dowels, and deck rigging. Finishing out the “creature comforts” are adjustable footrests that do not puncture the hull and a super light minicel seat that is custom made for this kayak. Watertight bulkheads protect your gear while two hatch covers allow access to the cavernous space below deck. The purist will appreciate the all-wood hatch cover stops, which are a thing of beauty in their own right.
